Why did the FBI reject my live-scan fingerprints?

The most common reason for fingerprint rejection by the FBI is poor print quality. This can be due to a number of factors, including dry or cracked fingers, excessive moisture or lotion, faded ridges, scars, or even thin or worn skin. Technical errors during submission or incorrect personal information can also cause rejections.

Not all live-scan providers are built the same. We take pride in our detailed process to capture all the information correctly the first time. Apex Fingerprinting has been in business since 2012 and providing great service to South Florida.

       Fingerprint Rejection Reasons:

Skin Conditions:
Dry, cracked, or excessively moisturized fingers can affect the clarity of the print. Also, certain skin conditions or natural wear and tear.

Faded Ridges:
Age, certain medical conditions, or exposure to chemicals.

Technical Issues:
Scanner problems, data transmission errors, or incorrect file formatting can also lead to rejection.

Incorrect or Mismatched Personal Information Discrepancies in Name or Other Data: If the personal information on your fingerprint submission doesn't match what the FBI has on file, it can cause a rejection.

Live Scan Operator Errors:
Incorrect data entry during the Live Scan process can also lead to rejection.

FBI's Higher Standards:
The FBI has a higher threshold for accepting fingerprints than some state or local agencies.
